Yesterday I improved the logic in UltraTrack (unguided tracking software similar to Software Bisque's ProTrack) and did a test run last night. First I shot 15-min exposures around M31. All stars were reasonably round besides those with blooming spikes. Then I tried a 30-min exposure and that also showed pretty round stars but maybe a thousand bloomed stars.
So, before going to bed I slewed to 7380 which just had passed the meridian which flipped the scope (AP105 on AP1200GTO). I focused the scope for the Halpha filter on a nearby bright star and slewed back to 7380 and set up a sequence to take six 30-minute UltraTrack-guided halpha exposures. All six images had reasonably round stars. Here is the Sigma Beta 10 combined and Photoshop stretched image. The pixels scale is relatively big, 2"/pixel, but I am still very happy with the unguided results:
