조각가자라의 나선형 은하인 NGC253입니다.

긴변의 길이가 27분각으로 아주 크게 보이는 은하인데, 우리나라에서는 남중 고도가 낮아서 촬영하기 불편하지요.

뉴멕시코의 원격 관측소에서도 관측 고도가 낮기는 마찬가지였습니다.

관측지의 위도가 32도로, 우리나라와 4도 정도밖에 차이가 나지 않아서 NGC253의 남중고도도 33도 정도밖에 되지 않습니다.

당연히 촬영 가능 시간도 하룻밤에 4시간정도밖에 되지 않았습니다.

결국 충분한 노출시간을 확보하기 위해서 총 7일간 촬영을 해야 했습니다.

첫번째 사진은 원본을 잘라내지 않고 이미지의 한변을 1600pixel로 resize한것이고,

두번째 사진은 원본의 60%정도 크기로 잘라내고 이미지의 한변을 1600pixel로 resize한것입니다.
